Our Kleysen head office is in Winnipeg and we have operations in Calgary, Edmonton, Saskatoon and Esterhazy, SK.  Our shared services group, which includes accounting and finance, is predominantly based in our Winnipeg office.  The Accounting Manager reports directly to the Vice-President Finance.

The Accounting Manager prepares and analyzes various financial information, ensuring the quality, timeliness and accuracy of financial information and reporting to meet corporate and public company reporting standards. The Accounting Manager leads the Accounts Payable team and oversees the mailroom and office supply purchasing functions. The Accounting Manager works with our other Finance Managers in gathering, compiling and reporting financial results. We will also be endeavoring in an enterprise-wide software conversion and an opportunity for the Accounting Manager to be a part of this exciting change.

Responsibilities and Duties

·    Accountable for the day to day execution of corporate accounting and accounts payables.

·    Provide direction to support staff as it relates to the accounting function.

·    Reconcile variety of balance sheet accounts (AR, property taxes) and review for reasonableness.

·    Ensure accurate and timely reporting of the company’s financial results as per Mullen standards.

·    Provide technical knowledge and research on accounting matters when required.

·    Primary oversight and control of the general ledger.

·    Primary liaison with Accounting Managers/Controllers at other Mullen subsidiaries.

·    Preparation of shared services financial statements.

·    Accountable for timely period-end reporting (monthly, quarterly and annual) to Mullen head office. Manage the flow of work within the accounting department to achieve set targets.

·    Drive and support timely year-end reporting.

·    Play a key role in budget preparation and reporting against budget on a periodic basis. Provide value-added analysis on variances to plan, and interact with various Accountants/Finance Managers to gain required insight.

·    Provide support as needed for periodic forecasting and planning.

·    Assist VP Finance with ad hoc analysis and reporting needs as required.

·    Manage requirement of timely and accurate statutory filings.

·    Review invoices prior to being posted to ensure correct allocation to departments.

·    Ensure all statutory reporting requirements are being met.

·    Ensure compliance with internal procedures and policies

·    Monitor and manage daily cashflow.

·    Develop and document business processes and accounting policies for proper internal controls.

·    Oversee office business forms and purchases, offsite storage, and mailroom operations.

Requirements:

 

·    Minimum 3-5 years’ experience in an accounting department in a private/public company.

·    Extremely organized and strong ability to multitask.

·    Strong written and oral communication skills in working with Managers and Auditors.

·    Enrolled in professional designation program at a minimum 2-3 year level.

·    Systems savvy and comfortable using technology.

·    Strong Microsoft Excel skills – high working knowledge of intermediate/advanced formulas for managing information and data analysis.
